Ranchi, July 13 : Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary and Co-incharge of the Media Department Lal Kishore Nath Shahdev on Sunday hit back at BJP Jharkhand President Aditya Sahu over his remarks on the Ayodhya Ram Temple donation controversy, accusing the BJP of politicising the issue.
Shahdev said Lord Ram belongs to all followers of Sanatan Dharma and cannot be associated with any particular political party. He alleged that the BJP has consistently used Lord Ram’s name for political gains, while the Congress has upheld the ideals of Lord Ram and the values enshrined in the Constitution.
Referring to the controversy over donations and offerings at the Ayodhya Ram Temple, Shahdev alleged that the reported irregularities had hurt the religious sentiments of millions of devotees. He maintained that the Congress was raising the issue in the larger public interest and that seeking accountability reflected the concerns of the people.
The Congress leader also accused the BJP of levelling allegations of appeasement politics against the party to divert attention from its own failures and alleged corruption. He asserted that the opposition’s questions over the donation controversy were aimed at ensuring transparency and protecting the faith of devotees.
