SHILLONG, Mar 28 : Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Saturday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “decisive leadership” in navigating challenges arising from the ongoing West Asia conflict.
Sangma’s remarks came a day after the Prime Minister chaired a virtual meeting of chief ministers and lieutenant governors to review the evolving situation in the region and assess India’s preparedness.
During the meeting, Modi noted that the global situation remains dynamic and emphasised that maintaining economic and trade stability, ensuring energy security, strengthening industry and supply chains, and safeguarding the interests of Indian citizens are the government’s top priorities.
Sangma said he attended the meeting to take stock of the fast-changing developments and discuss coordinated responses. “Grateful for Hon’ble PM’s decisive leadership during such challenging times. Team India stands united and will continue to work together to navigate the situation,” he said in a post on X.
He also stressed the importance of close coordination between the Centre and states to address potential implications of the crisis, particularly with regard to the safety and welfare of Indian nationals.
The meeting assumes significance amid heightened tensions in West Asia, which have raised concerns over regional stability, global energy supplies and the security of Indians working in the region.
