New Delhi, March 2: At least three banks and six schools in the national capital received bomb threat emails on Monday morning, prompting authorities to launch extensive security checks and anti-sabotage operations, officials said.

According to the Delhi Fire Services, information about the threats began coming in between 8 a.m. and 8.20 a.m., following which multiple emergency response teams were rushed to the affected locations.

The banks that received the threats include an Axis Bank branch in Connaught Place, the State Bank of India (SBI) branch at AIIMS and another SBI branch in east Delhi’s Shahdara.

The schools that received similar threat emails are Army Public School in Delhi Cantonment, Salwan Public School, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Mira Public School in Janakpuri, Ramjas Public School and Ramjas School in Rajendra Nagar.

Police, along with bomb disposal squads, dog squads and fire department personnel, were deployed to conduct detailed inspections of the premises.

“Teams from the local police, bomb disposal squad, dog squad and fire department were immediately dispatched to the locations. Detailed anti-sabotage checks are underway,” a senior police officer said.

As a precautionary measure, students and staff were evacuated from the school premises and parents were informed about the situation.

In a message to parents, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya said the school had received a security threat in the morning and that police teams were present on campus to undertake necessary security measures. “All students have been evacuated safely,” the school said.

Authorities said security personnel were conducting thorough inspections of classrooms, corridors, administrative blocks, parking areas and surrounding premises at the affected schools and bank branches.

So far, no suspicious objects have been found at any of the locations, police said, adding that investigations are underway to trace the origin of the threatening emails.

The incident comes amid heightened security alert in the national capital. On February 23, bomb threat emails were also sent to two schools, the Red Fort and the Delhi Assembly building, which were later declared hoaxes by police.
