Mumbai, Feb 06 : India all-rounder Shivam Dube etched his name into cricket history by becoming the first player in the world to win 30 consecutive T20I matches. Dube achieved this unprecedented feat during India’s resounding 150-run victory over England in the fifth T20I at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, sealing a 4-1 series win.

Dube, who was brought into the squad as an injury replacement for Rinku Singh and Nitish Reddy, made his presence felt in the fourth and fifth matches of the series. His contribution in the final game was pivotal, scoring a quickfire 30 off 13 balls and helping India post a formidable total of 247-9 in 20 overs. With the ball, he dismissed England’s Phil Salt and Jacob Bethell to further solidify India’s dominance.

The match’s standout performer, however, was Abhishek Sharma, who smashed a stunning 135 off 54 balls, propelling India to an insurmountable total. While Sharma’s brilliance took the spotlight, Dube’s all-around contributions ensured India’s commanding performance in the game.

Shivam Dube’s streak began on November 11, 2019, after India’s loss to Bangladesh in Rajkot. Since then, India has remained unbeaten in 30 T20Is featuring the all-rounder, a feat unmatched in men’s T20I cricket. Dube has played 35 T20Is for India since debuting against Bangladesh on November 3, 2019, in Delhi.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Dube’s IPL franchise, congratulated the player on social media platform X, writing, “If Dube plays, India wins. 30-0 and still going strong #WhistlePodu #INDvENG.” Highlighting the milestone, CSK’s post added, “Longest streak without defeat in men’s T20Is! 30-0. Since 11/12/2019.”

Dube’s inclusion in the squad came as a last-minute change following injuries to Rinku Singh and Nitish Reddy. While Reddy was ruled out of the series entirely, Rinku missed the second and third T20Is. Dube made his series debut in the fourth match in Pune, where India secured a 15-run victory.

The victory against England reflects India’s consistent dominance in the T20 format, with players like Dube contributing significantly to the team’s success. With his remarkable streak still intact, Dube is poised to further cement his legacy in Indian cricket.

India’s T20I campaign now looks to build on this momentum as they prepare for upcoming challenges, with a focus on nurturing all-round talent like Shivam Dube.
