Kathmandu, Dec 13: Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Friday expanded Nepal’s interim government by inducting four new ministers, increasing the size of the Cabinet to 14 members.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by President Ramchandra Paudel at a ceremony held at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas.
According to officials at the Prime Minister’s Office, Shraddha Shrestha has been appointed Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, while Madhav Chaulagain has taken charge of the Ministry of Forests and Environment.
Former DIG Rajendra Singh Bhandari has been assigned the portfolio of Labour, Employment and Social Security, and Kumar Ingnam has been appointed Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.
This marks the fourth cabinet expansion under Prime Minister Karki. The newly appointed ministers are scheduled to assume office at Singha Durbar later on Friday.
NPL Final: Sudurpaschim Royals to Face Lumbini Lions on Saturday
The final of the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) will be played on Saturday at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Stadium, Kirtipur, with defending champions Sudurpaschim Royals set to face Lumbini Lions.
The title clash is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm.
Sudurpaschim booked their place in the final after defeating Biratnagar by 77 runs in the first qualifier. Lumbini secured the remaining spot with a 40-run win over Biratnagar in the second qualifier.
Led by Dipendra Singh Aire, Sudurpaschim enter the final as strong contenders and will be aiming to defend their NPL crown, after losing last season’s final to Janakpur Bolts.
