Ludhiana, Feb 8 : A Punjab court has issued an arrest warrant against Bollywood actor Sonu Sood in connection with an alleged fraud case. The warrant, issued by Ludhiana Judicial Magistrate Ramanpreet Kaur, accuses the actor of evading summons to testify in the case.
The court order states that Sood “has been duly served with summons or warrants but failed to attend (absconds and keeps out of the way for the purpose of avoiding service of summons or warrants).” It directs that the 51-year-old actor be arrested and presented before the court.
In response, Sood took to social media, dismissing the reports as “highly sensationalized.” He clarified, “We were summoned as a witness by the Honourable Court in a matter pertaining to a third party to which we have no association or affiliation.”
The actor’s legal team has responded to the summons, with Sood announcing, “On 10th February 2025, we will give a statement that clarifies our non-involvement in the matter. We are neither brand ambassadors nor are we associated in any way. This is just for unnecessary media attention to grab eyeballs.”
Expressing his discontent with the media narrative, Sood added, “It is sad that celebs become soft targets. We will take strict action in this matter.”
The arrest warrant comes amid the actor’s recent professional milestone with the release of “Fateh,” an action thriller marking his directorial debut. The film features Jacqueline Fernandez, Naseeruddin Shah, and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles.
The case alleges Sood’s connection to a third-party fraud but has so far seen no direct evidence implicating him. His failure to attend court proceedings led to the issuance of the warrant.
