XLRI Jamshedpur holds 70th convocation; 530 students graduate

Jamshedpur, Mar 28: XLRI – Xavier School of Management on Saturday held its 70th annual convocation ceremony, with 530 students graduating across multiple management programmes.

The ceremony took place at the Tata Auditorium on the institute’s campus, marking a significant milestone in its over seven-decade legacy in management education.

The graduating cohort included nine students from the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), 179 from the Human Resource Management (HRM) programme, 219 from the Business Management (BM) programme, 111 from the General Management Programme (GMP), and 12 from Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM).

Chief guest Sandeep Bakhshi, CEO of ICICI Bank, was conferred the Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace, the institute’s highest honour, in recognition of his contributions to industry and society.

Addressing the gathering, XLRI Director Fr Sebastian George said the convocation marked both a moment of reflection and a transition towards greater responsibility.

He urged graduates to uphold integrity, compassion and a commitment to nation-building.Chairman of the Board of Governors T V Narendran highlighted the importance of lifelong learning, resilience and understanding global geopolitical developments in an increasingly interconnected world.

In his convocation address, Bakhshi emphasised India’s growth driven by human capital and digital progress, and advised students to focus on continuous learning, humility and purpose-driven leadership.

Several students were honoured for academic excellence. Abhinav Singh Roy received the Parineet Reddy Medal for Best All-round Student, while Anushka Chaturvedi was awarded the Geeta Saxena Medal for Best All-round Woman Student.

Sudhanshu Bhatt was recognised as the Outstanding FPM Student.Among other awardees, Khushi Kaur Mehta secured the highest CQPI in HRM, Nishchal Goel topped the BM programme, and Sai Nikhil Vobbilisetty led the GMP programme.

Nehal Jain and Samyak Jain were awarded the XLRI Medal for Social Initiatives.

The institute also recognised contributions in research and long service, underlining its emphasis on academic rigour and institutional commitment.

The convocation reaffirmed XLRI’s focus on developing responsible leaders committed to professional excellence and social responsibility as graduates step into diverse roles across industries.
