New Delhi, Dec 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit West Bengal today to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for two National Highway projects worth around ₹3,200 crore, aimed at strengthening road connectivity and boosting economic growth in the State.

At around 11:15 am, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of the projects at Ranaghat in Nadia district. He will also address a public gathering on the occasion.

During the visit, Mr. Modi will inaugurate the 66.7-km-long four-laning of the Barajaguli–Krishnanagar section of National Highway-34 in Nadia district. He will also lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of the 17.6-km-long Barasat–Barajaguli section of NH-34 in North 24 Parganas district.

The highway projects will serve as a vital connectivity link between Kolkata and Siliguri. Once completed, the upgraded corridor is expected to reduce travel time by nearly two hours, ensuring faster and smoother movement of vehicles.

Officials said the projects will improve traffic flow, reduce vehicle operating costs and provide a major boost to trade, tourism and overall economic activity in the region.
