Giridih, Mar 23 : Two workers were killed and one injured in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Saturday after the roof of a dilapidated school building collapsed during demolition work, officials said.

The incident took place in Begabad, where workers were tearing down the old structure when the roof suddenly gave way, burying two of them under the debris. Both died on the spot, while another worker sustained injuries, authorities said.

“All the workers involved in the demolition work were from Murshidabad,” an official familiar with the matter said.

Rescue operations were carried out following the collapse, and the injured worker was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials added.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and whether proper safety measures were in place during the demolition process.
