Agartala, Jan 3: Schools run by the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) will remain closed for 11 days from January 3 to January 13, 2026, in view of a severe cold wave affecting large parts of the state, officials said.
An official memorandum issued by the Council’s Education Department stated that the decision was taken on the directions of the Chief Executive Member and the Executive Member (Education) to safeguard the health and well-being of students during the prevailing cold conditions.
The order clarified that the temporary closure would not impact ongoing academic assessments. Practical examinations for Class X and Class XII scheduled during the period will be conducted as per the existing examination timetable.
All inspectors of schools under the district council have been directed to circulate the order widely and ensure its strict implementation.
The notification was approved by the competent authority and signed by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Council on January 2, 2026.
Temperatures across Tripura have dropped sharply over the past few days, with tribal and hilly areas experiencing particularly harsh conditions.
The cold wave has disrupted normal life in several regions, prompting authorities to advise residents to take necessary precautions and limit outdoor activities where possible.
