Hyderabad, June 13: The Telangana government on Wednesday allocated portfolios to three newly inducted ministers, days after their swearing-in and following Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s return from New Delhi where he held discussions with Congress party leadership.
Gaddam Vivek has been assigned the portfolios of Labour, Employment Training and Factories, and Mining, according to an official government release. Vakiti Srihari will oversee Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries, along with Sports and Youth Affairs.
Adluri Laxman Kumar has been entrusted with the high-profile departments of Scheduled Castes Development, Tribal Welfare, Minorities Welfare, and the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
The ministers took oath of office on June 8, shortly before the Chief Minister left for the national capital for consultations with the party high command. The portfolio allocations are understood to be the outcome of those discussions.
This is the first major cabinet reshuffle since the Congress came to power in Telangana in December 2023. The state leadership has been under pressure to broaden representation in the cabinet and deliver on welfare promises made during the assembly elections.
