Hazaribag, Aug 29: A potentially serious railway accident was averted after the Ranchi–Patna Vande Bharat Express collided with a tractor-trolley carrying wood in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district, officials said.The incident occurred between the Charhi and Bes railway stations.
The collision caused some damage to the train, but no passenger or railway staff member was reported injured.The train was stopped immediately after the incident and remained at the site for around 41 minutes.
Railway officials and local police were informed, while a technical team carried out an inspection of the train and the affected section of the route.
The service was allowed to resume its journey towards Patna after safety checks were completed and the railway track was declared safe.The incident briefly caused panic among passengers, but the situation remained under control and no casualties were reported.
The collision has raised concerns over railway safety and how a tractor-trolley loaded with wood came into contact with or reached the vicinity of an operational railway track.
Railway authorities and police have initiated an inquiry into the incident. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the movement of the tractor-trolley and are attempting to identify those responsible.
Officials said the railway track was subsequently secured and train operations in the area were continuing normally.
The investigation is expected to establish the circumstances that led to the collision and determine whether any lapse in safety or unauthorised access to the railway area was involved.
