Gorakhpur, April 19: Authorities are preparing a chargesheet against Sandeep Tripathi, also known as Shashi Bhushan Dixit, for his alleged role as the mastermind in the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) question paper leak case, officials said on Friday.
Tripathi, a resident of Hanumant Nagar in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested on March 27 by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) from Ranchi with the assistance of local Cantt and Shahpur police. He was taken into custody along with his associate, Vivek Ranjan, and later remanded to jail following registration at Cantt police station.
Originally hailing from Girdhar Parsa village in Bihar’s Gopalganj district, Tripathi had been residing in Gorakhpur for the past five years. Authorities allege that he used earnings from the solver racket to invest in multiple private hospitals in the city.
“Sandeep has significant financial stakes in several medical establishments in Gorakhpur. The funds are suspected to have originated from his operations as part of the solver gang,” said a police official familiar with the investigation.
Ranjan, a resident of Parkholi village in Gopalganj, was also staying in Padri Bazar, Gorakhpur. Both individuals are accused of operating a network that facilitated exam malpractice through impersonation and leaked question papers.
The SIT from Ranchi is now in the process of filing a chargesheet naming Tripathi as the alleged kingpin of the gang.
