Ranchi, July 11: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) Board is set to hold its meeting on Saturday to deliberate on 25 proposals aimed at improving urban infrastructure and civic amenities across the city.
Among the key agenda items is a proposal to construct additional footpaths and improve pedestrian infrastructure in line with the Supreme Court’s directions.
The initiative seeks to address the growing challenges faced by pedestrians due to inadequate sidewalks, traffic congestion, and encroachments.
Municipal officials said rapid urbanisation, increasing vehicular movement, and illegal occupation of footpaths have made walking unsafe in several parts of Ranchi.
As a result, many pedestrians are forced to use roads meant for vehicles, increasing the risk of accidents.
The board is expected to discuss measures for constructing new footpaths in priority areas, removing encroachments from existing sidewalks, and ensuring safe and uninterrupted movement for pedestrians.
The proposals are also expected to strengthen the city’s overall traffic management and public infrastructure.
In addition to pedestrian safety, the meeting will consider several other development-related proposals aimed at enhancing civic services and supporting planned urban growth in Ranchi.
If approved, the proposals are expected to contribute to creating a safer, more accessible, and pedestrian-friendly city while improving the quality of urban infrastructure for residents.
