Vadodara, Sept 23: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday launched a Brahma Kumaris programme on spiritual awakening for world renewal and inaugurated the Global Spiritual Palace retreat centre in Vadodara, Gujarat.The President also virtually launched a programme titled “Youth for Viksit Bharat: Awakening Inner Strength for Nation Building” organised by Brahma Kumaris in Nadiad.
Addressing the gathering, Murmu said development should not be limited to economic progress and should also focus on human development. She stressed the need for an education system that develops not only intellectual abilities but also wisdom and discernment.
The President said sustainable progress should include sensitivity towards nature and encourage people to develop self-control rather than seek control over others. She also emphasised the role of spirituality in promoting a sense of connection and harmony among people.
Murmu appreciated the Brahma Kumaris’ efforts to promote meditation and spiritual knowledge as tools for personal transformation and social renewal in India and abroad.She said every individual has the potential to change. According to the President, when people develop confidence that changes in their thoughts and actions can improve their lives, and regain hope and self-respect, they can contribute to positive changes within their families and communities.
Murmu expressed hope that the newly inaugurated Global Spiritual Palace would develop into a space where people from different sections of society could come together and promote peace and harmony.Speaking about the youth programme in Nadiad, the President said she was pleased to launch it virtually from the birthplace of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
She said young people who channel their thoughts, emotions and actions in a positive direction can influence their families, workplaces, communities and, ultimately, the nation.She described the awakening of inner strength as not merely an initiative for individual development but also as an important component of nation-building.
The President said empowering young people is a collective responsibility and called for efforts to help them become self-reliant, peaceful and responsible citizens.Murmu said self-transformation has traditionally been regarded as a foundation for social transformation.
She stressed the need to connect this heritage with the requirements of modern life.She said the vision for India should include economic prosperity, scientific advancement, social inclusion and spiritual awareness.
