Ranchi, April 23: Outrage over the deadly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam has spilled into the streets of Ranchi, where several political and youth organizations have planned protest marches and candlelight vigils to honor the victims.

On Tuesday afternoon, gunmen opened fire indiscriminately on civilians in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination, killing 26 people. Eyewitnesses said the attackers targeted individuals after inquiring about their religious identity. The incident has triggered widespread condemnation across India.

In Ranchi, youth wings and political bodies have responded with coordinated tributes and protests. The Rashtriya Yuva Shakti Party will lead a protest and tribute march from District School to Paramveer Albert Ekka Chowk at 6:00 p.m. The procession will include the lighting of lamps in memory of the 28 victims cited by organizers.

The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) has announced a candle march at Ambedkar Chowk at 4:30 p.m., while the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) will stage a torchlight procession beginning at 5:00 p.m. from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium.

The Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM) is also scheduled to hold a candle march from District School at 6:00 p.m.

The events come amid national mourning and growing calls for stronger security measures in vulnerable tourist regions of Jammu and Kashmir. No group has officially claimed responsibility for the attack as of Tuesday evening, and security forces have launched an extensive search operation in the region.
