Gurugram, April 02: A massive fire broke out at a garment warehouse in Saraswati Enclave Industrial Area here late Tuesday night and quickly spread to two adjoining warehouses storing liquor and shoes, officials said on Wednesday.

The blaze, which started at 11:49 pm, caused extensive damage to goods stored in the warehouses, though no injuries were reported.

More than 20 fire tenders and over 200 firefighters were deployed in a 12-hour operation to contain the fire, authorities said.

“A fire broke out at a garment warehouse in Saraswati Enclave Industrial Area at 11:49 pm on Tuesday. Fire engines from the Sector 37 fire station reached the site, but the fire spread rapidly to adjoining liquor and shoe warehouses. Additional reinforcements from all district fire stations, along with support from Nuh and Jhajjar districts, were called in,” a senior fire officer said.

The fire was brought under control on Wednesday afternoon, but smoke continued to rise from the warehouses until 4 pm. Two fire vehicles remained on-site to monitor the situation, the officer added.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
