3 month old critical after brutal assault by uncle in Morena; accused arrested

Morena, Madhya Pradesh, Dec 31 : In a harrowing incident that has shocked the region, a three month old baby girl is fighting for her life after being allegedly raped by her 30 year old paternal uncle on Tuesday afternoon. The infant has been rushed to Gwalior for emergency surgery as doctors describe her condition as highly critical.
The Incident
The assault took place in a shared family household under the jurisdiction of the Station Road police station. According to police reports, the accused the victim’s father’s elder cousin arrived at the residence in a heavily intoxicated state.
The infant was reportedly sleeping on a cot in the courtyard when the accused picked her up, claiming he wanted to feed and play with her. Despite vocal objections from the child’s mother and grandmother, who were concerned by his inebriated condition, the man forcibly took the baby into a separate room. Moments later, the family was alerted by the infant’s agonizing screams, only to discover her in a severely injured and bloody state.
Medical Emergency
The victim was immediately transported to Morena District Hospital, where medical staff worked to stabilize her following massive hemorrhaging.
“The child’s condition is serious,” stated Dr. Gajendra Singh Tomar, Civil Surgeon. “She has suffered severe trauma and significant blood loss.”
Given the severity of her internal injuries, she was referred to a specialized facility in Gwalior for urgent surgical intervention. Medical experts have warned that the next 72 hours remain crucial for her survival.
Police Action
The Morena police acted swiftly following the family’s complaint, detaining the suspect before formally placing him under arrest.
“The accused, who was in an inebriated state, took the infant to a nearby room on the pretext of playing with her and then raped her,” confirmed Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Surendra Pratap Singh. He added that a formal case has been registered and the investigation is proceeding rapidly.
The community remains in a state of mourning and outrage as authorities ensure that the legal process is expedited for the heinous crime.
