Seraikela, Nov 22: In a tragic mishap, three persons lost their lives while one suffered multiple injuries after a iron ore laden-Hywa overturned and fell on nearby e-rickshaw at Chaliama under Rajnagar police station of Seraikela-Kharswan district on Saturday early morning, a police officer said.
Two persons were crushed under the heavy vehicle loaded with the minerals and two others were rescued by local residents and police. The victims included passengers of e-rickshaw.
The injured persons including a woman were immediately shifted to Sadar Hospital, Chaibasa but one of them breathed his last in course of treatment, police said. Other injured was referred to a hospital in Jamshedpur for better treatment.
The incident occurred near Gate No. 5 of a private steel plant on Chaibasa-Hata road of the district. According to witnesses, half of the body of a person was under the vehicle and screaming for help. The driver of the Hywa stated to have lost control over the pot-holed road and turned on the e-rickshaw.
A serpentine queue of vehicles on both sides of road got stuck up due to disruption of the road traffic following the incident, which led local residents in large numbers to turn up on the spot.
The local residents expressed strong resentment as it was not the first such incident in the area but no initiative was undertaken by administration to put rein on it.
Police has confiscated the dumper and began investigation to find out the exact cause of the incident.
