Deoghar, Nov 22: In a tragic incident on Saturday, a havaldar of Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP)-05 lost his life due to an accidental burst fire from his service rifle. The incident took place around 11 am in the Mohanpur police station area.
As per reports, the deceased jawan has been identified as Shivpujan Pal, who was on duty with an AK-47 rifle. During the incident, the rifle reportedly went into burst fire mode accidentally, firing several rounds at once following which he died on the spot due to critical injuries.
Cops from Mohanpur police station reached the spot soon after receiving the information and began legal proceedings. The body was taken for further formalities, and an investigation into the incident is underway.

Sources said the accident happened while the havaldar was charging the shooting ring of his rifle. During this process, the weapon accidentally discharged in burst mode, and multiple bullets hit him in the neck area, leading to his immediate death.
Notably, havaldar Shivpujan Pal was originally a resident of Bhabhua district in Bihar. Authorities are conducting a detailed inquiry to ascertain the exact cause of the accidental firing.
