Jamshedpur, Nov 21: In a fresh incident of violence, a man has been brutally shot dead near the Imamabara area of Shastrinagar Block No. 2 under Kadma police station limits.
The victim has been identified as Mohammad Tauqeer, also known as Gora. According to initial reports, the attack took place around 10 PM late Thursday night when five assailants arrived in a car and targeted him. The attackers first assaulted him with a sharp weapon before firing multiple rounds at him and fleeing the scene.
Local residents rushed Tauqeer to Tata Main Hospital (TMH), where doctors declared him brought dead. Following the incident, family members of the deceased created a ruckus at the hospital, expressing anger over the killing.
The Kadma police station in-charge reached the crime scene soon after receiving information and recovered empty cartridges from the spot. Senior police officials have said that an investigation is underway and efforts are being made to identify and arrest the attackers.

Police sources said that the victim had a criminal background and had earlier served jail time in a murder case. He was also named as an accused in the Shivam murder case of Dhatkidih. In March 2025, Kadma police had again arrested him on charges of planning criminal activities, and he was released on bail only a few days before the incident.
The murder comes at a time when Jamshedpur has been witnessing a worrying rise in violent crimes. In recent months, the city has reported multiple cases of murders, loot, armed robberies and violent attacks, raising serious concerns about public safety and law and order.
Earlier incidents include a case where miscreants allegedly used chilli powder to loot a large sum of cash from a trader, and another armed robbery at a jewellery shop. The city has also seen high-profile murder cases in 2025, with several killings reportedly linked to personal enmity and organised crime.
