Ranchi, Sept 9: Jharkhand Governor-cum-Chancellor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Wednesday urged graduating students of Ranchi University to use their knowledge, talent and skills for the development of society and the nation, and become creators of opportunities rather than merely seeking them.
Addressing the 39th Convocation of Ranchi University, Gangwar congratulated the students receiving their degrees and highlighted the crucial role of universities and youth in achieving the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’.
“The role of universities and youth is extremely important in achieving the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’,” he said.
The Governor said a developed India should not be viewed merely through the lens of economic prosperity, but as a nation empowered by knowledge, science, technology, innovation, education, culture and human values.
“Students should not merely look for opportunities but become creators of new opportunities,” Gangwar said, stressing the importance of research, new ideas and the creative potential of young people in realising the country’s development goals.
As Chancellor, Gangwar said his constant endeavour has been to ensure that academic quality, research, transparency and student welfare remain the highest priorities in the state’s universities.
He called for an academic environment where students can develop subject knowledge along with creativity, talent and innovation. He expressed confidence that Ranchi University would further strengthen its contribution to education, research, innovation and social responsibility and play a leading role in shaping higher education.
Highlighting Ranchi University’s contribution to Jharkhand, Gangwar described it as an important institution in the state’s educational journey and said it has contributed not only to education but also to the social and intellectual development of the state.
“The reputation of a university is determined not merely by the number of students who graduate from it, but also by the new ideas, research and positive efforts that reach society,” he said.
Addressing the graduates, the Governor advised them to balance knowledge with wisdom and success with sensitivity. He also urged them to remain humble in success and patient in failure, learn from their mistakes and remain committed to their goals.
“Maintaining humility in success and patience in failure, learning from mistakes and remaining committed to one’s goals are the ways to move forward,” he said.
Gangwar also emphasised the need to embrace modern education and technology while remaining connected with India’s culture, traditions and human values.
“Modernity provides the pace for progress, while our culture and values provide the right direction,” he said, adding that a balance between the two would make development more meaningful and sustainable.
He urged the graduates to give equal importance to their responsibilities towards society and the nation alongside their personal achievements.
“Their true identity will be shaped by their work, character, honesty, capabilities and sense of responsibility towards society,” the Governor said.
