Ranchi, June 11: Jharkhand reported its first death caused due to Covid this year at Ranchi on Tuesday.
The 44-year-old patient was being treated at the Trauma Center of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi. It has been told that the patient was suffering from many other serious diseases. Doctors tried their best to save him, but he finally breathed his last.
During the last 24 hours, three new cases of Covid infection have been reported in Ranchi. With this, the number of active Covid positive cases in the state has increased to seven.
This year, the first case of Covid in the state was reported in Ranchi on May 26. After this, the health department had issued an alert in the entire state.
More than 15 cases of Covid have been reported in the state during the last few days. Most of these people have recovered after treatment.
The state government is appealing to the people of the state to follow the Covid protocol as much as possible. People have been advised to get tested and contact doctors if they notice any symptoms related to cold, cough, fever and Covid.
Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari had ordered the deployment of a team of doctors to examine suspected Covid patients at airports, railway stations and bus stands, although no such arrangement has been seen so far.
The Health Minister also held a meeting with departmental officials last week regarding Covid. He had said that the leaves of doctors in government hospitals of the state have been canceled till further orders. He had given instructions to create isolation wards in all the district hospitals of the state, improve the supply of oxygen and arrange for necessary medicines in stock.
