Ranchi, June 11: Jharkhand Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari on Tuesday said that Chief Minister Hemant Soren has pledged to make Jharkhand drug-free and the government is working to fulfill his resolve.

Under this, this drug de-addiction campaign is being run, which has started from June 10 and will conclude on June 26 at Morhabadi Ground.

He said that with the aim of bringing awareness in all the districts, awareness campaign vehicles are also being dispatched, which will go to all the districts and make people aware about the ill effects of drug addiction.

Dr Ansari was addressing the workshop organized under the drug de-addiction campaign in Project Bhawan on Tuesday. On this occasion, he also released a booklet related to drug abuse prepared with the cooperation of the home department and the Information Public Relations Department.

Those present at the workshop took an oath to make India drug free. Dr Ansari also flagged off the campaign vehicles after the program.

The Health Minister said that the main objective of the program is to get the youth and people out of drug addiction.

Under the campaign, promotional vehicles will go to all the districts, awareness programs will be run in schools and colleges. Action has been taken to prevent opium cultivation in various districts of Jharkhand, especially Ranchi and Khunti.

The minister said that it is very important to stop the misuse of prohibited drugs.

“Our efforts are continuing and we have also succeeded in stopping it to a great extent, but our goal is to completely eliminate opium cultivation. Opium cultivation has been destroyed on a large scale, this is the achievement of the government. Drug addiction is ruining people socially, mentally and economically,” said Dr Ansari.

He told that through this workshop, information will be given on how to work to prevent drug addiction.

He said that information will be given about the law regarding drugs, under what circumstances you will be given drugs from the drug store. Right now there is a plan to install CCTV in drug stores. Soon the department will prepare a portal which will contain information about all regulated drugs. People taking drugs will also be treated.
