BJP’s Aakrosh protest reflects desperation, frustration: JMM

Ranchi, June 24: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has dismissed BJP’s Aakrosh protest held across various blocks in state as nothing more than a political gimmick.

JMM general secretary Vinod Kumar Pandey said that the protest was neither in the interest of people nor related to public welfare. Instead, he called it a reflection of the BJP’s growing desperation and frustration.

According to Pandey, the BJP is troubled by the fact that the tribal-native government, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, is actively working for the welfare of all sections of society, including the poor, farmers, youth, and women. He argued that the very issues the BJP is now raising during their protests are the same ones they ignored during their own time in power.

He particularly criticized the BJP’s stance on issues like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, sand policy, employment, education, and healthcare, calling their statements laughable. Pandey alleged that under BJP rule, sand mafias thrived, development schemes were stalled, the healthcare system collapsed, and the youth were misled with empty promises of employment. He claimed that it was precisely because of these failures that the people of Jharkhand ousted the BJP from power and gave a historic mandate to Hemant Soren’s leadership for a second consecutive term.

Taking aim at former Chief Minister and current BJP state president Babulal Marandi, Pandey said that despite having served as CM, Marandi continues to ignore the ground realities of Jharkhand. The problems he now highlights, Pandey asserted, have their roots in the BJP’s own tenure.

He alleged that the BJP’s protest was aimed solely at grabbing media attention and misleading the public.

Highlighting the achievements of the current government, Pandey pointed to the implementation of the PESA Act, the local-based recruitment policy, women’s empowerment schemes, the Maiyaan Samman initiative, and reforms in the education sector as historic steps that have left the BJP unnerved.
