Ranchi, October 13: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday announced its list of star campaigners for the upcoming Ghatsila Assembly by-election, signalling its intent to go all out in the contest.
The list features 40 senior leaders, including Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who had served as the party’s in-charge during the last Assembly election.
However, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was co-in-charge in the previous election, is missing from the list this time. Party sources said his exclusion was due to a packed schedule, adding that the central leadership has distributed responsibilities across various states, with Sarma likely to play a role in the upcoming Bihar polls.

The BJP’s central leadership has included several heavyweight leaders in the Ghatsila campaign. Among them are Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Jual Oraon, Annapurna Devi, and Sanjay Seth, along with the Chief Ministers of Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
From the state unit, BJP president and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, acting state president and MP Aditya Sahu, and former Chief Ministers Arjun Munda, Raghuvar Das, Champai Soren, and Madhu Koda have also been named star campaigners.
The party has further enlisted its key organizational leaders, MPs, and senior functionaries for the campaign. BJP state media in-charge Shivpujan Pathak said the party is treating the Ghatsila by-election as a battle that will shape the state’s political future. He said that it will not be an ordinary election for his party as it will be a decision of the future.
With this list, the BJP has made it clear that it is putting its full strength behind the Ghatsila by-election. The party’s star campaigners will reach out to voters across the constituency, focusing on both local issues and national issues.
