Jamshedpur, India, October 14: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organized a “Quality Walk 2025” at Jubilee Park in Jamshedpur on Sunday to commemorate World Standards Day 2025, highlighting the importance of quality, standardization, and collective responsibility in building a culture of excellence.
This year’s World Standards Day theme, “Shared Vision for a Better World – Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17),” was reflected in the event’s focus on collaboration between institutions, educators, and youth.
The walk was jointly flagged off by Shri Kunal Kumar, Director and Head of BIS Jamshedpur Branch Office, and Prof. Krishna Murari, Dean of RVS College of Engineering, Jamshedpur. Addressing the participants, Kumar urged citizens to integrate quality and excellence into their daily lives, saying that “quality is not an act, but a habit.”
More than 600 students from various universities, colleges, and schools took part in the walk, carrying banners and placards promoting quality, safety, and standardization. Faculty members and BIS officials also joined, underscoring the growing awareness among youth about maintaining standards in education, industry, and public life.
The initiative formed part of BIS’s broader World Standards Day outreach campaign, aimed at strengthening partnerships with academic institutions and inspiring future generations to champion quality and compliance. The event concluded with a call to action, reaffirming that “Quality is everyone’s responsibility” and that commitment to standards is a step toward a better, more sustainable future.
