Ranchi, May 22: A modern hostel with 520 beds will be constructed at the tribal college campus in Karamtoli, Ranchi at a cost of about Rs 26.24 crore.
On Thursday, Chief Minister Hemant Soren laid the foundation stone of the construction work by performing ground breaking of the hostel. Apart from the Chief Minister, departmental minister Chamra Linda also attended the occasion.
Hemant Soren said that now there will be happiness when the children will shift to the hostel. He said that this hostel will be ready by 2027.
“Our effort is to reduce your problems. The people of Jharkhand have to face many problems, but our government is trying to solve all those problems one by one,” said Soren.
The Chief Minister said that now food will be provided by the government in all the hostels of the welfare department of the state.
“Now the students and their parents do not need to carry rice from the village in sacks. The campus is very big. We will try to provide better facilities here,” added Soren.
He also announced plans to build a library in the name of Bhimrao Ambedkar in every district of the state.
He said that the government schools of the state are doing better now. The students of 80 CM Utkrishta Vidyalaya (CM school of excellence) have performed brilliantly in the 10th and 12th examinations. He said that for higher education, the government has arranged a loan of more than 15 lakhs through Guruji Credit Card.
Welfare department Minister Chamra Linda said that work is being done on the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The department is constantly trying to improve the situation for tribal and adivasi students.
Incidentally, Chamra Linda had studied in this tribal hostel for a long time. His political career started from this hostel.
The hostel will be fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and will provide a better educational environment to the scheduled tribe students here. This scheme, pending for years, is now being implemented, which will benefit hundreds of students.
The hostel will have 22 rooms on each floor and have occupancy of students in each room. The hostel will be constructed at an estimated cost of about Rs 26.24 crore. It will be a G+6 (seven-storey) building with a total floor area of 98,505 sq ft.
