Ranchi, May 18: Congress leader Ajay Nath Shahdeo has been elected president of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA).
The results of the much-awaited elections of JSCA have been declared. In this election, the team led by Ajay Nath Shahdeo has registered a one-sided victory and defeated industrialist S.K. Behera faction.
Ajay Nath Shahdeo, who had contested for Hatia assembly constituency on Congress ticket in last year’s assembly polls, was elected new president of JSCA while his team members Sanjay Pandey has been elected as the vice-president, former international cricketer Saurabh Tiwari as secretary and former cricketer Shahbaz Nadeem as joint secretary and Amitabh Ghosh as treasurer.
Polling stations for the election were set up near the North Gate in the stadium complex of JSCA at Dhurwa in Ranchi. In which a total of 718 voters exercised their franchise. Counting of votes started at 2pm and the results were declared late in the evening. In this election, both the factions had fielded 15-15 candidates. Before the election, on Saturday, both the parties released their manifestos and promised transparency in cricket, participation of players and strengthening the structure.
Ajay Nath Shahdeo described his victory as the victory of cricket lovers and players. He said that his aim is to take Jharkhand cricket to new heights.
