Ranchi, July 18 : Aspiring actors, filmmakers and media professionals in Jharkhand are set to receive a major boost as the state government plans to establish a Film and Television Institute in Ranchi.
The proposed institute will offer professional courses in acting, filmmaking and other film and television-related disciplines, creating new opportunities for students interested in pursuing careers in the entertainment and media industries.
The institute is being planned on the lines of established film and television institutes in Pune and Kolkata, aiming to provide quality training and industry-oriented education within the state.
The initiative has been taken following the direction of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, with the objective of strengthening Jharkhand’s creative ecosystem and reducing the need for aspiring artists to move to other states for professional training.
Officials believe the institute will help nurture local talent, promote Jharkhand’s rich cultural heritage and create employment opportunities in the rapidly growing film, television and digital content sectors.
Once operational, the institute is expected to become a major centre for skill development in cinema, acting, direction, cinematography, editing, screenwriting and other allied fields, giving young professionals from Jharkhand access to world-class training closer to home.
