Imphal, September 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Manipur on Sept. 13 for a brief tour during which he is expected to address public meetings at two locations and inaugurate development projects, officials said on Thursday.
A preparatory meeting was held at the Raj Bhawan in Imphal to review arrangements for the visit, chaired by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and attended by former chief minister N. Biren, assembly speaker Th. Satyabrata, several state legislators and state BJP president Adhikarimayum Sarda Devi.
Officials said discussions focused on the venues for Modi’s public addresses and the list of projects he will formally launch during his stay in the northeastern state.
The visit comes as the government seeks to step up development initiatives in Manipur, which has faced political and ethnic tensions in recent years.
