New Delhi, Aug. 6: Cricket South Africa (CSA) has revised the schedule for the Indian women’s cricket team’s upcoming tour by adding a three-match Twenty20 International series, expanding the bilateral assignment to include contests in all three formats.
Under the updated itinerary, the tour will begin with a one-off Test match from December 9 to 12, followed by a three-match One Day International (ODI) series from December 16 to 22. The newly added T20I series will be played from December 26 to 30, extending India’s stay in South Africa by an additional week.
The T20I matches are scheduled to be hosted in Benoni and Potchefstroom. According to Cricket South Africa, the expanded programme is intended to provide both teams with valuable match practice ahead of the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka early next year.
CSA said facing a strong opponent like India across all three formats would offer high-quality competition and help the South African team fine-tune its preparations for the upcoming global tournament.For India, the extended tour presents an opportunity to gain additional international exposure, assess squad combinations and build momentum before a major ICC event.
The multi-format series is also expected to strengthen the growing rivalry between the two sides in women’s cricket.India and South Africa have met several times in recent months, making the upcoming tour another important chapter in their competitive bilateral rivalry.
