Vasco, Jan 6: A minor girl has been reported missing from her residence in Cortalim since the evening of January 2 triggering concern among her family who have expressed suspicion that she may have been abducted by a person known to her, police said.
According to Verna police, the girl left her house at around 5 pm without informing anyone and failed to return home. After unsuccessful attempts to trace her, the girl’s mother approached the police and lodged a complaint.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under provisions related to kidnapping from lawful guardianship and initiated a detailed investigation. The family has alleged that the minor was friendly with an individual and suspects that he may have taken her away.
Police teams have been deployed to trace the missing girl and identify the suspected person. Efforts are underway to gather technical and local inputs to ascertain her whereabouts.
Verna police said further investigation is in progress and appealed to the public to share any information that could help locate the minor.
