Four children charred to death as fire breaks out in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum

New Delhi, Mar 17 : Four children were charred to death after a fire broke out in a haystack near their house in Gitilipi village, under Jagannathpur police station in West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand, on Monday, police said.

The tragic incident occurred around 11 AM, when the children were playing near the haystack and the fire suddenly erupted, engulfing them before they could escape. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and officials are investigating whether it was triggered by an accident or another factor.

Confirming the incident, West Singhbhum SP Ashutosh Shekhar stated that a police team had been dispatched to the site for a detailed investigation. Authorities are also working to ascertain if any external elements contributed to the blaze.

Local residents were left shocked by the tragedy, with many gathering at the site as police began their inquiry. Officials are expected to speak with the families of the victims and eyewitnesses to piece together the sequence of events.
