Jharkhand, July 15 : PhysicsWallah (PW) Founder and CEO Alakh Pandey has extended financial support to help a 14-year-old girl from Jharkhand resume her education after she was forced to discontinue her studies due to financial hardship.
Pandey, popularly known as Alakh Sir, was visiting Laxmipur village in Jharkhand to launch a digital library for students in the region when he met Sonali Thudu, a student from a tribal community in a nearby village. During the interaction, Sonali shared her aspiration to become a nurse and her desire to study at St. Mary School, a residential school in Tisri of Giridih district.
According to Sonali, her education came to a halt after her father suffered an accident and lost his housekeeping job in Hyderabad. Since then, her mother has been travelling nearly 10 kilometres each day to work at a local farm, taking care of animals to support the family.
Moved by the family’s circumstances and Sonali’s determination to continue her studies, Pandey accompanied the student and her parents to St. Mary School and facilitated her admission.
As part of the support, Pandey has sponsored Sonali’s tuition and hostel fees for Classes 9 and 10. He has also provided additional financial assistance to meet her educational expenses.
In addition, Pandey presented Sonali with a new school uniform and personally accompanied her to her classroom, where he introduced her to her teachers and classmates as she began the next phase of her academic journey.
The initiative highlights the role that timely financial assistance and access to education can play in enabling students from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue their aspirations. Sonali’s story underscores how targeted support can help overcome barriers to education and create new opportunities for young learners.
