Lucknow, April 14 – Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain M.S. Dhoni added another record to his storied Indian Premier League (IPL) career, becoming the first player to complete 200 fielding dismissals in the tournament’s history. The 42-year-old wicketkeeper achieved the milestone during CSK’s clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Dhoni reached the landmark in the 14th over when he stumped Ayush Badoni off Ravindra Jadeja’s bowling. Badoni stepped out in an attempt to accelerate the scoring but was beaten by Jadeja’s flight and turn, allowing Dhoni to whip off the bails with trademark precision and speed.

He added another dismissal in the final over of LSG’s innings, completing a catch off Rishabh Pant to wrap up the opponent’s innings at 166 for 7. The match marked Dhoni’s 271st IPL appearance.

With a total of 201 dismissals — 155 catches and 46 stumpings — Dhoni now holds the record for the most fielding dismissals in IPL history. He is followed by fellow wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik with 182 dismissals, while former Royal Challengers Bengaluru star AB de Villiers is third with 126 dismissals.

Dhoni, a two-time World Cup-winning captain for India, continues to be a vital presence for CSK both behind the stumps and in the dressing room. His performance on Monday further cements his legacy as one of the greatest wicketkeepers in the game’s shorter format.
