Ranchi, Sept 7 : Jharkhand MLA Janardan Paswan’s son, who was allegedly abducted on Monday, was recovered within hours following a search operation, police said.
Paswan, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) legislator from Chatra, had alleged that unidentified persons forcibly took his son away in a four-wheeler after assaulting him outside a private university in Ranchi.
The incident was reported near the gate of the university, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Vidhan Sabha police station, police said.
“His son was recovered from the same police station area. Interrogation is underway. Details will be shared later,” Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan told PTI.
Earlier, Paswan told reporters that his son, a law student, was leaving the university when three or four persons arrived in a four-wheeler and allegedly assaulted him before forcibly taking him away.
Police are currently questioning those involved to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Prima facie, the incident appears to have stemmed from an internal dispute, another police official said.According to the official, an altercation had taken place among some youths on the university campus, following which the incident occurred.
