New Delhi, March 30: Services on the Delhi Metro Yellow Line were disrupted for around one-and-a-half hours during peak morning hours on Monday after a man fell onto the tracks at Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station, officials said.

The incident led to regulation of train services for safety reasons, causing long waiting times and heavy overcrowding across several stations along the corridor. Large crowds were seen जमा on platforms as commuters struggled to board already packed trains.

In a post on X, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said, “Delay in train services on Yellow line due to passenger on track at Vishwavidyalaya metro station.” Services were later restored to normal.

According to the Delhi Police Metro Unit, the injured has been identified as Anil Kumar, a 52-year-old resident of Karawal Nagar. He reportedly lost balance while standing near the edge of the platform and fell onto the tracks. No foul play is suspected, police said.

The man sustained a head injury and was rushed by metro staff to Hindu Rao Hospital, where he was admitted in a conscious and stable condition.

Commuters expressed frustration over the disruption during office hours. One passenger said, “It’s office time and there is a huge rush. Even when trains are coming, they are too crowded to board easily.” Another commuter added, “It’s already getting late and there is no clarity on how long this will continue.”
