New Delhi, August 16: A CISF personnel has been suspended and a departmental inquiry ordered after a woman allegedly accused him of taking her photographs inside a Delhi Metro train, triggering a confrontation with passengers, officials said.The incident took place at around 12:40 am on Sunday near AIIMS Metro station, according to Metro Police sources.
The woman reportedly confronted the Central Industrial Security Force personnel and questioned him over the alleged photographs. He denied taking her pictures, but the situation escalated after passengers allegedly found photographs of the woman on his mobile phone.Several commuters then confronted the personnel and demanded that the images be deleted.
The argument intensified when the personnel allegedly tried to leave the coach, leading to a scuffle between him and some passengers.A video of the confrontation has since circulated on social media, showing passengers surrounding and questioning the personnel.
Some commuters alleged that the CISF personnel took out his service weapon and pointed it towards them during the confrontation. However, Metro Police officials have denied that any such weapon-related incident took place.Police personnel reached the location after receiving a PCR call. The woman, however, did not submit a formal complaint, officials said.
Metro Police subsequently informed CISF authorities about the allegations made by the woman and other passengers.
The CISF has suspended the personnel and initiated a departmental inquiry to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether any service rules were violated.Officials said further action would depend on the findings of the departmental inquiry and whether a formal complaint is filed.
The incident has drawn attention on social media, but officials have cautioned that allegations surrounding the use of a service weapon remain disputed.
