Ranchi, Mar 21 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Garrison Engineer Sahil Ratusaria for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,500. A search of his residence in Namkum led to the recovery of Rs 80 lakh in cash, shares worth Rs 1 crore, jewellery valued at Rs 60 to 70 lakh, and diaries related to financial transactions, CBI officials said.
Ratusaria, who joined the Indian Security Engineer Service in 2013-14, draws a monthly salary of Rs 90,000. When questioned about his income and the source of his assets, he failed to provide an explanation, officials said. He has been remanded in CBI custody until Monday.
CBI found that Ratusaria allegedly took commissions of 1.5% to 3% from contractors. He initially demanded Rs 54,000 from a contractor for clearing a Rs 27 lakh bill but later agreed to accept Rs 40,500, officials said. The agency laid a trap and arrested him on Wednesday while he was allegedly receiving the bribe.
Investigators suspect that Ratusaria was not acting alone and that others may be involved in an organized commission racket. The agency is examining the roles of his potential associates.
CBI urged the public to report corruption cases involving central government offices, railways, post offices, GST, income tax, and public sector undertakings such as banks, LIC, CCL, CMPDIL, MECON, HEC, and SAIL. It has provided a mobile and WhatsApp number (9470590422), a landline (0651-2360093), and an email (HOBACRNC@cbi.gov.in) for complaints.
