Barcelona, Sep 15: Barcelona’s iconic Camp Nou stadium has been selected by UEFA to host the men’s Champions League final in 2029, bringing European club football’s showpiece event back to the Catalan capital after three decades.
The decision means Camp Nou will stage the prestigious final for the first time in exactly 30 years. The stadium last hosted the Champions League final in 1999.
UEFA has also confirmed that Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena will host the 2028 final, while this year’s final is scheduled to be played at Atletico Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium.
The selection comes as Camp Nou continues to undergo a major renovation. The third tier of the stadium is yet to be completed, while Barcelona also plans to install a roof as part of the redevelopment project.
The renovation is currently expected to be completed in 2027. Once fully revamped, Camp Nou is projected to have a capacity of around 105,000 spectators, making it one of the largest stadiums in world football.
The venue’s return to the Champions League final stage will add another major milestone to its history, with Barcelona set to showcase its renovated home to the European football community.
UEFA has also finalised venues for the women’s Champions League finals. Parc Olympique Lyonnais will host the 2028 final, while Cardiff’s National Stadium of Wales has been selected for the 2029 showpiece.
