Patna, Sep 4: RJD leader and Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav on Friday hit back at JDU acting national president Sanjay Jha over his “NRI” jibe, asserting that Bihar was his home and workplace and that he would remain connected with the people of the state.
Responding to Jha’s allegation that he had little to do with Bihar’s grassroots problems, Yadav said, “We are from Bihar. Bihar is our work place, and we will die here.”
Yadav was speaking while leaving to visit flood-affected areas of Raghopur, his Assembly constituency, and Bidupur, where he said he would meet local residents and hear their grievances.
The RJD leader also targeted Jha, alleging that the JDU leader had harmed his own party.
“Sanjay Jha should complain about himself, not us. He has ruined the JDU. Everyone is seeing what Nitish ji is going through,” Yadav said.
Yadav said he had recently visited Raghopur and had raised the issue of riverbank erosion with the state government and officials.
“We just returned from Raghopur last week. We have written a letter to Deputy CM Vijay Chaudhary complaining about the erosion problem in Raghopur. We have also spoken to officials,” he said.
The former Bihar deputy chief minister said his visit was aimed at understanding the difficulties faced by people in flood-affected areas and taking up their concerns with the administration.
He said he would meet residents, listen to their problems and subsequently discuss them with the government and concerned officials.
Yadav also launched a broader attack on the state government, alleging that it had failed to address people’s legitimate concerns.
“We constantly raise the legitimate demands of the people of Bihar with the government, but the government refuses to listen,” he said.
He cited issues concerning students and farmers as well as the rising crime rate, alleging that the government was not providing satisfactory answers.
“Whether it’s student issues, farmers’ problems, or the rising crime rate, we demand answers from the government on all issues, but this dictatorial government isn’t listening,” Yadav said.
He also criticised the government over inflation and accused it of focusing on economic indicators such as GDP while failing to address the difficulties faced by ordinary people.
The remarks came in response to Jha’s recent criticism of Yadav. The JDU acting national president had described the RJD leader as an “NRI” politician and alleged that he had little connection with Bihar and its grassroots issues.
“Tejashwi Yadav is an NRI. He has nothing to do with Bihar and its grassroots problems,” Jha had said.
The exchange comes amid heightened political activity in Bihar, with the opposition seeking to highlight issues related to floods, erosion, governance, employment, inflation and law and order.
Yadav’s decision to visit flood-hit Raghopur also comes as several parts of Bihar continue to face the impact of rising river levels and inundation, with residents in affected areas seeking relief, connectivity and protection from erosion.
The RJD leader said he would continue to raise the concerns of people with the government and officials after assessing the situation on the ground.
