Patna, July 29: ITC Hotels Limited has expanded its footprint in Bihar by signing a management agreement for Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels, Rajgir, reinforcing its strategy of strengthening its presence in the state’s fast-growing spiritual, cultural and experiential tourism sector.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Anil Chadha, Managing Director of ITC Hotels Limited. The project will be developed under a long-term arrangement between the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) and Kalsi Buildcon Private Limited.
Spread across 2.67 acres, the upcoming property will feature 107 guest rooms and suites, an all-day dining restaurant, nearly 5,000 square feet of indoor banquet facilities and over 12,000 square feet of landscaped outdoor lawns. The hotel is expected to cater to leisure, spiritual, cultural and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) travellers, while also serving as a venue for weddings, conferences and other social events.
The signing comes soon after ITC Hotels announced its upcoming ITC Hotel in Patna and inaugurated the Welcomhotel Bodhgaya Hotel & Convention Centre, further consolidating the hospitality major’s presence in Bihar.
Speaking on the occasion, ITC Hotels Managing Director Anil Chadha said Bihar is home to some of India’s most significant cultural and spiritual destinations and offers immense long-term potential for hospitality-led tourism.
“The signing of Welcomhotel Rajgir reinforces our promise to build a larger presence in Bihar,” Chadha said.
He noted that domestic travellers are increasingly seeking destinations offering authentic experiences alongside branded hospitality and expressed confidence that the partnership with Kalsi Buildcon would contribute to Bihar’s tourism vision by bringing world-class hospitality to one of India’s most compelling travel destinations.
Sumeet Singh Kalsi, Director of Kalsi Buildcon Private Limited, said the company was delighted to collaborate with ITC Hotels to introduce the Welcomhotel brand in Rajgir.
“With its deep historical significance and enduring appeal among visitors from across India and around the world, Rajgir presents a compelling opportunity for the development of a world-class hotel,” Kalsi said.
He added that ITC Hotels’ recognised service excellence would help establish the property as a distinguished addition to Bihar’s rapidly expanding tourism landscape.
According to the company, the Rajgir project is part of its broader strategy to expand the Welcomhotel brand across high-potential heritage, spiritual and experiential destinations, particularly in emerging Tier II and Tier III cities, while supporting the growth of tourism infrastructure in Bihar.
