Karimnagar, Dec 24: Members of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s women’s wing staged a protest in Karimnagar on Tuesday, demanding the removal of Bihar.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over an alleged incident involving a Muslim woman doctor’s hijab at a recent public event in Patna.
The demonstrators gathered at Telangana Chowk and raised slogans condemning the Chief Minister’s action, describing it as a “shameless act.”
They alleged that Mr. Kumar had “pulled down” the hijab of a Muslim female doctor while handing over appointment letters to newly recruited AYUSH doctors at an official programme held in Bihar’s capital more than a week ago.
Addressing the protest, leaders of the women’s wing said the incident had brought disrepute to the constitutional office held by Mr. Kumar and amounted to an affront to the dignity and religious rights of Muslim women.
Following the demonstration, a delegation from the organisation submitted a complaint against the Bihar Chief Minister at the Karimnagar Two-Town police station, seeking appropriate legal action.
The protest concluded peacefully under police supervision.
