Patna, Sep 3: Dr Ajay Singh on Thursday assumed charge as the Vice President of the Bihar State Citizens Council, taking up the new responsibility with a pledge to continue working actively as a public servant and remain committed to issues concerning the people.
The charge was formally handed over to Singh by the Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat of the Bihar Government.
After assuming office, Singh expressed gratitude to Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, former chief minister Nitish Kumar and JD(U) National Executive President Sanjay Jha for entrusting him with the responsibility.
“I express my gratitude to former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and JDU National Executive President Sanjay Jha for this new responsibility,” Singh said.
He said the new position would further strengthen his commitment towards public service and issues affecting ordinary people.
“My active work as a public servant will continue. I will remain fully committed to issues of public interest,” Singh said.
Singh also underlined his family’s long association with public service, saying public welfare had always remained a priority for them.
“My family has always given priority to public welfare in public life,” he said.
He recalled the contribution of his mother Jagmato Devi and wife Kavita Singh, saying both had remained committed to serving the people while holding elected positions and maintaining the dignity of the party.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavita Singh expressed special gratitude to former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and praised his contribution to the development of the state.
“Nitish Kumar’s contribution to Bihar’s development will always be remembered,” she said.
She also highlighted Kumar’s commitment to party workers and said his dedication to the organisation remained an example.
“His dedication to the organisation’s workers is an example,” Kavita Singh said.
The assumption of charge comes against the backdrop of Singh’s continued involvement in public and organisational activities. His appointment to the Bihar State Citizens Council is expected to provide another platform for him to engage with issues related to public welfare and people’s concerns.
The occasion was also marked by references to the family’s political and public-service legacy, with Singh stressing that serving society has remained an important part of his family’s public life.
The new responsibility places Singh in a position to work on matters concerning citizens and public welfare, while his remarks indicated that he intends to continue his engagement with people and issues affecting them.
Singh reiterated that public interest would remain at the centre of his priorities in his new role.
