Patna, Jul 31: The Bihar government has stepped up efforts to strengthen digital governance and improve public service delivery, with more than 5.33 lakh applications resolved under the Sahayog initiative launched in May, a senior official said.General Administration Department Secretary M. Sohail said the initiative, which began on May 19, had received 5,83,886 applications so far, of which 5,33,904 had been disposed of. The government has also initiated the process for filling more than 1.72 lakh vacant posts in various departments.The state government said the increasing use of digital systems was helping improve transparency, accountability and the timely delivery of public services.
Under the Bihar Right to Public Service (RTPS) framework, more than 53.80 crore applications have been processed so far. Services related to caste, income and residence certificates, ration cards and birth registration are being provided through online platforms.An automated appeal mechanism has also been introduced for certain services. Under the system, applications that are not processed within the prescribed time may be automatically moved to the next stage for review.The government said more than 64 online services are now available at panchayat government offices across Bihar, enabling rural residents to access several public services closer to their homes.
The state has also reported progress in grievance redressal. More than 19.38 lakh complaints have been resolved under the public grievance redressal mechanism. In addition, 16,106 grievances concerning serving and retired government employees have been addressed through a separate system.The government has sent requisitions to recruitment and selection agencies for filling 1,72,218 vacant posts during the 2025–26 and 2026–27 financial years.
The recruitment process for these positions is underway.In another digital initiative, employment records of around eight lakh state government employees have been made available through the Human Resource Management System (HRMS).
The platform includes information related to salaries, service records and property declarations.The toll-free Janata Darbar Centre has provided information regarding government welfare schemes and public services to nearly 12.94 lakh people, the official said.The government is also working with specialists under an arrangement involving the Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya.
Around 107 experts are assisting various departments in improving administrative systems and adopting modern management and technology-based practices.The state government said the initiatives were aimed at making public administration more efficient, transparent and accessible while ensuring that citizens receive government services within the prescribed time.
