Guwahati, Dec 29: Mobile Internet and data services have been restored in Assam’s Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts after several days of suspension, following a marked improvement in the law-and-order situation, officials said.
According to an official notification, authorities assessed that there is no longer any immediate threat to public peace in the two districts.
In view of the stabilised situation, the Assam Home and Political Department revoked its earlier order that had imposed restrictions on mobile Internet and data services as a precautionary measure.
All mobile service providers were subsequently directed to resume services, which were restored with effect from 8:00 am on December 28, 2025.
Officials said the decision to lift the shutdown was taken after a careful review of the ground situation, noting that normalcy has largely been re-established.
With the restoration of connectivity, residents and businesses in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong can now access mobile data, online communication and digital services without restrictions.
Authorities added that the situation continues to be monitored to ensure the maintenance of peace and public order in the region.
