BOKARO, India, April 3- At least two people were injured on Thursday when personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) allegedly resorted to a baton charge to disperse demonstrators near the administrative building of the Bokaro Steel Plant in eastern India, police said.

The protesters, under the banner of the BSL Visthapit Apprentice Sangh, were demanding employment and had gathered near the plant, obstructing employees attempting to enter, said Alok Ranjan, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Bokaro City.

“The CISF personnel deployed there urged the agitators to allow employees to enter the plant. When they refused to comply, the security personnel resorted to a mild lathi charge to disperse them. Two demonstrators were injured in the incident,” Ranjan told Reuters.

The injured were taken to Bokaro General Hospital for treatment, he said. Bokaro legislator Sweta Singh claimed that one person had died in the incident, but police have not confirmed any fatalities.
