Bogota, December16: A bus carrying schoolchildren fell off a cliff in a rural area of northern Colombia, killing at least 17 people and injuring 20 others, the local governor said on Sunday.
The bus was travelling from the Caribbean town of Tolu to Medellín after a school trip and was carrying students from Antioqueño High School, Antioquia Governor Andres Julian said in a post on X.
The students had been celebrating their graduation on the beach before the accident, the governor added later on Sunday night. “It’s very hard news for the entire community during the time of December,” Julian said.
Authorities did not immediately provide further details on the cause of the crash.
