From January 2026 Odisha to pay higher stipends to ayurveda and homoeopathy PG students

Bhubaneswar, December 15 : Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved a major increase in stipends for postgraduate students of government Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic medical colleges in the state.

The move is aimed at encouraging students in traditional medicine streams and strengthening public healthcare. It shows the state governments support for young medical professionals.

Under the revised structure the new stipend will be effective from January 1 2026.

First year postgraduate students will now get Rs 48000 per month instead of Rs 31000.
Second year students will receive Rs 52000 per month instead of Rs 32000.
Third year students will get Rs 55000 per month instead of Rs 33000.

The hike means an increase of 55 percent for first year students 62 percent for second year students and 67 percent for third year students.

The Chief Minister also approved a rise in stipends for house surgeons in government Ayurvedic and Homoeopathic colleges. Their monthly stipend has been increased from Rs 17000 to Rs 30000. This revision will be effective from August 1 2025.

According to officials around 120 postgraduate students will benefit from the decision. The Chief Minister said the increased stipend will help students focus more on studies and patient care and improve the overall quality of healthcare services in the state.
